About The Project: This project aims to establish banks (Gene banks) which preserve animal genetic resources, to start characterization of endemic domestic animal species to use gained knowledge in registration studies, to build national researcher capacity in animal genetics and biotechnology areas and to combine and disseminate knowledge. These banks would guarantee not just five years, a hundred years of our country. Samples from 1500 animals belong to total 5 species would be preserved.

  • Between the dates of 25th and 29th May 2009 "Embryo recovery and manipulation in bovine" entitled intra-project course was given at Selcuk University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (Konya) and Lalahan LCR (Ankara).
  • At the date of 09th of April 2009, Project Monitoring Meeting has been assembled at MRC. And on 10th of April 2009, at Istanbul University, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, work group meeting has been assembled.
  • At the date of 14th of January 2009, at Lalahan LCR, PC Group & Genetics Group meetings were assembled.
  • On the CNN Turk TV, between 01st - 05th December, for one week, from Monday to Friday, news about the project has taken place for three minutes on daily news bulletin.
  • Between the dates of 24th - 27th of November 2008, at GEBI "Vitrification studies for the embryos collected from the ewes" titled intra-project course was given. [Photos]
  • Between the dates of 8th - 9th November of 2008, at METU, "Population Genomics-II" titled intra-project course was given.
  • At the date of 07th November of 2008 Kilis Goats were delivered to Ankara University.
  • With the participation of Prof. Sergio Ledda, "Embryo collection and manipulation in sheep" titled intra-project workshop and course was executed at the dates between 13rd - 17th of November 2008.
  • Between the dates of 18th - 22nd of August 2008, in GEBI, "Molecular Genetics Applications" course was given.
  • At the date of 06th of August 2008, at Lalahan LCRI, Reproduction Group meeting was assembled.
  • Between the dates of 8th - 10th July of 2008, at METU, "Population Genomics-I" titled intra-project course was given.
  • At the date of 09th of July 2008, at METU, Genetics Group meeting was assembled.
  • At the date of 23rd of June 2008, at Istanbul University, Faculty of Veterinery Medicine, Reproduction Group meeting was assembled.
  • At the date of 29th of May 2008, on offical TV channel of Turkey 2 (TRT 2), in hourly news bulletin, on the official TV channel of Turkey 1 (TRT 1), in evening news, the story related to TURKHAYGEN-I project was published.
  • At the date of 02nd of May 2008, at TUBITAK MRC, Reproduction Group & Genetics Group meetings were assembled.
  • 24th - 29th February 2008, in Antalya, the meeting for evaluation for the program of the project meeting organised by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, General Directorate of Agricultural Research, introduction presentation was made and informations were given about the devolopment of the project within last one year by Project Coordinator Assoc.Prof.Dr. Sezen ARAT.
  • Between the dates of 23rd - 24th of January 2008, at TUBITAK MRC GEBI - Transgene Core Facility, the Primer Cell Culture practical course was given.
  • At the date of 17th of January 2008, at Lalahan LCRI, PC Group & Reproduction Group meeting was assembled.
  • At the date of 14th of December of 2007, at METU, Genetics Group & PC Group meetings were assembled.
  • Between the dates of 27th - 29th of November 2007, at Lalahan LCRI, "Uterus washing procedure at cattles and applications of OPU" titled intra-project course was given.
  • At the date of 27th of November 2007, Angora Goats were delivered to Ankara University.
  • At the date of 08th of November 2007, in Uludag University, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Reproduction Group meeting was assembled.
  • At the date of 18th of October 2007, in Ankara University, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Genetics Group & PC Group meeting was assembled.
  • At November 2007, some part of the Anatolian Gray Cattles were delivered to Uludag University.
  • At July 2007, White Karaman Sheeps and some part of South Anatolian Red Cattle was delivered to Selcuk University.
  • At September 2007, Imbros Sheeps are delivered to Istanbul University.
  • The first tissue and blood samples were collected in Ankara University.
  • 20th oj June 2007, Karayaka Sheeps were delivered to Ankara University.
  • Lalahan LCRI was started to collect Anatolian Black Cattle flock.
  • The Project was begun at the date of 15th of March 2007.
